Google's recent Business Profile updates focus on measuring post visibility, improving address accuracy and protecting businesses from review abuse. This article covers official announcements checked on 6 October 2026 and explains how business owners can use them.

01

Check how many views your Google posts receive

In its 10 September 2026 Small Business Bulletin, Google introduced post-view reporting within the Business Profile dashboard. It covers updates, offers and events, combines views from Search and Maps, and includes posts published over the previous 18 months.

To find it, sign in to your Business Profile, open Posts and check the view count on each post card. At announcement, Google described the feature as rolling out globally and said it was not yet available through the API.

Compare posts over similar periods. Look for topics that attract attention, then assess whether they also lead to useful enquiries. A view count measures exposure; it does not establish that someone became a customer. A service explanation may receive fewer views than a seasonal offer but generate more relevant enquiries.

02

Address updates now include autocomplete

In the same September bulletin, Google announced address autocomplete in the Business Profile editor, available globally on desktop and mobile. Matching suggestions appear as you type into Address Line 1.

Check that the selected address identifies the correct premises, including any necessary unit details. After saving, review the public listing and map pin. A suggested address still needs to match where your business operates.

03

Stronger protection against review attacks

In April 2026, Google described additional measures to detect suspicious review activity. When it identifies a sudden spike in spam reviews, Google says it can remove the fake content, temporarily pause new reviews, notify the profile owner and show visitors a banner explaining the pause.

This announcement concerns suspicious activity. It is not a promise that every negative review will be removed. Keep a record of unusual patterns, including dates, URLs and relevant communications. Separate genuine service complaints from suspected abuse so each receives the appropriate response.

04

Turn the updates into a practical management routine

The practical opportunity is better visibility into how your profile performs and fewer avoidable information errors. Assign responsibility for checking new features, reviewing public details and responding to feedback.

For post reporting, record the publication date, subject and observation date alongside the view count. Compare similar time windows and consider seasonality. Combine these observations with enquiries or bookings you can actually attribute; avoid claiming that views alone prove commercial impact.

  • Check whether post-view reporting is available in your dashboard
  • Verify your address, map pin and customer-facing details
  • Review offers and events for expired information
  • Assign someone to monitor reviews and investigate unusual activity
  • Record actions taken and review the results on a regular schedule
05

What these changes do not establish

The cited announcements do not establish that publishing more posts guarantees better local rankings, or that a review pause means the business has done something wrong. Read each feature according to its stated purpose and avoid treating every dashboard change as a ranking update.

Accurate information, useful posts and thoughtful complaint handling remain work the business can control. Use the new reporting to refine that work rather than chasing a view count without understanding the customer journey.
